Lead Construction Manager – Network, Leased Data Centers Responsibilities:
This role will work closely with the Lead Construction Manager – Infrastructure in the Central Region within the Lease Delivery Program Team
This role is responsible and accountable for the following scope in Lease Projects for the Central Region: 1. Cabling: GS Backbone, AV, WAP, EPMS/BMS and Security – ordering of equipment and coordination in field with GC and internal partners. 2. Infrastructure (cable tray/waterfalls/MCRs/Goalposts) Ordering of Equipment with both internal and external partners and coordination in field with GC and internal partners. 3. Security Integrator – Ordering of Equipment and Coordination with cross-functional’s
The LCM-N will manage multiple, simultaneous Lease Data Center projects at strategic and project level from inception through hand over to the network teams
In coordination with stakeholders, the LCM-N will lead development and management of responsible scope to include schedule, budget, quality requirements, proactive risk identification and mitigation, etc. for their Lease DC projects
Liaison with GSST and GSDC on Landlord Security Punchlist walks and Turnover to GSDC/Site Ops
Design engagement with internal and external Network designers to support a final GS design that the General Contractor can price and buying GS cabling scope
Coordination with RSE/ENS/Delivery Network on CorpNet and FacNet Live
Liaison with Connectivity Engineers for program consistency for change and design requests from lease execution through Network Ready. Drive weekly syncs with Connectivity Engineers to discuss design and execution concerns, identify major risks to the Lease Geo Manager and DEC Program Manager
Strategic planning including suggested vendor selection for cabling scope, allocation model and procurement
Frequently interface with design teams, technical program managers, cost estimators, schedulers, capacity planning teams, operations, site teams and multi-disciplinary engineering partners to manage projects through the execution phase. Keeping partners and stakeholders informed and accountable
Ensure internal processes are followed and align expectations early on delivery timelines – Attends and helps coordinate all necessary ongoing project related meetings as well as upfront meetings (kick-off, constructibility review, etc.)
Share current project status with upstream and downstream partners, ensuring crisp and complete hand-offs between teams
Review initial change orders relative to telecom with project controls team and LCM – I’s. Engage design team to confirm change direction is captured through a Construction Design Directive
Represent the lease program at a deep level throughout the org, to be able to build the appropriate communication channels both within and outside the team
Partner across diverse pillars to set goals, direction, and strategy to support a portfolio of leased data centers
Resolve conflicts (both technical and interpersonal) to ensure the project teams have paths toward resolution
Approximately (15%) domestic travel required
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or equivalent technical degree and/or minimum of 12 years direct experience in project planning and construction management
Experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary development projects, data centers, live mission critical facilities or similar technical construction projects
Experience with design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems as well as low voltage cabling
Experience with network builds within Data Centers
Experience managing vendor relationships and knowledge in standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts
Experiences working with local, state, domestic and international construction build codes and health & safety requirements
Experience with retrofit projects in live mission-critical environments or occupied spaces
Experience reading lease agreements and work letters
Coordination experience leading a team towards a single project outcome Communications and reporting experience
Experience with Primavera P6, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with ground-up construction and lease data center requirements
