Product Designer, IDC Robotics Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the user experience design of a product from conception to launch in partnership with project managers, systems engineers, mechanical and software engineers, testers, UX designers, and UX researchers
Partner with systems engineers, project managers, and internal customers to support the collection, analysis, and validation of internal customer requirements and use cases
Design end-to-end workflows and experiences that are simple and elegant for robotics team initiatives
Work with mechanical engineers to develop hardware designs
Lead the delivery of complete UX and visual design specifications to the engineering team, including prototypes, proofs of concept, wire frames, user flows, design mockups, and specifications
Utilize design research methodologies to understand user goals, validate designs, and analyze deployed product usage
Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that the designs are implemented accurately and as intended
Architect new UI design systems as needed (for small on-device touchscreen interfaces, for example)
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years experience designing digital products inside cross-functional teams (including user research) and with outside consultants and vendors, with a focus on complex browser-based applications and/or embedded device interfaces
Experience designing the physical hardware component of projects, with a focus on the points of human interaction including basic understanding of industrial design principles and processes (orthographic drawings, etc.)
Collaboration skills with technical and non-technical team members and customers
Experience showcasing your end-to-end design process across multiple projects, that include interaction and visual design artifacts, multiple iterations, and high-fidelity prototypes
Experience participating in user testing research to inform and improve product design and customer experience
Demonstrated visual design skills with proficiency in typography, desktop UI, color, layout, iconography and aesthetic sense and how these elements impact product function
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing for products in the robotics or automation industries
Experience with Human Robot Interaction (HRI) design
Experience designing for various groups of people (international audiences, multi-language localization, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc.)
Leadership experience in non-product dimensions that have made a team stronger and positively impacted the work environment
