The Technical Support Engineer is embedded in an engineering team and, as the quality and support expert, and drives the team to increase the quality of their product. You will roll up your sleeves and enjoy a variety of work, from dipping into the Meta code to organizing bug bashes. It is up to you to have a positive impact on the customer experience from the day you graduate from our immersive bootcamps; be curious and passionate, shape and expand your role over time, raise the quality bar, and increase your impact on the customer experience.As a Technical Support Engineer, you are responsible for triaging and troubleshooting the most technically challenging support cases, ensuring operational excellence, advocating for product quality, and shipping quick win fixes and long-term improvements through hand-on experience with the code. As a member of the Global Product Services team, you’ll have opportunities to initiate work streams with Engineering teams and Operations teams to scale your learnings across all of Facebook to impact the customer experience for all users.

Technical Support Engineer Responsibilities:
Becomes familiar with product code base and architecture

Engages in early product development discussions to enhance product testability, stability, and customer experience

Streamlines and supports bug triage: looks at code as part of bug triage and fixes minor bugs

Drives process changes to team’s operational engineering excellence and leads by example

Investigates missing logging and implements logging if needed

Audits test coverage investments and recommends hi-impact test additions

Owns bug and incident root-cause and drives long-term improvements through trend analysis

Facilitates dog fooding and bug bash sessions: scales learnings by driving improvements to tooling and team’s practices

Collaborates with team to drive improvements to release process

Communication and interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team

Builds strong relationships with other customer experience focused cross-functional partners

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of Hack, Perl, PHP, or Python

Solid knowledge of test and tool development methodologies

Solid knowledge of software engineering principles and practices

At least 2 years of experience in coding and testing applications

Track record of operating independently, being detail-oriented, and delivering high quality results

Experience with Load and Performance testing techniques

Knowledge of relational databases and SQL

Experience with C++, Java, or another object-orientated programming language

BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications:
Solid knowledge of testing tools such as WebDriver, JUnit, JMeter

Knowledge of Digital Advertising
