Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate App Innovation Architect focusing on Azure Application Innovation to join the Customer Success Unit. This customer-facing position is a hands-on technical role spanning across design, build, and production with a focus on issue resolution to remove customer technical obstacles and adoption challenges.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for technical customer engagements, working with the most challenging and exciting projects. You will work with select customers to lead deep technical architecture discussions with senior customer executives, Enterprise Architects, IT Management and Developers. You will collaborate with a variety of internal and external teams to develop pilots and oversee implementation projects, ensuring technical blockers are removed on adoption. You will drive technical intensity of developers and create communities within customers. And you will collaborate with Product engineering to share feedback into the development of Microsoft products and help develop Azure platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
Understanding Customer/Partner Technical Environment
Apply technical knowledge and customer insights to empower customers to create a modernization journey roadmap. Architect solutions to meet business and IT needs, ensuring technical viability of new projects and successful deployments, while orchestrating key resources and infusing key Infrastructure technologies including Kubernetes, Azure PaaS services (e.g. App Service, Java, containers, serverless, cloud native, etc.) and Application Development with low code options and DevOps and GitHub technologies as appropriate
Gather customer/partner insights (e.g., feedback around technical preferences, environments, business needs) and leverage these insights and existing plans to map solutions with customer/partner business outcomes. Learn to adapt business models, plans, and solutions to insights.
Act as the voice of the customer (VOC)/partner by driving awareness of existing feedback, gaps, blockers, insights, resources, etc. across communities to track, add, and prioritize, using established channels (e.g., UAT/TFT).
Architecture Design and Deployment
Leverage an existing architecture approach or reference architecture to propose a solution or achieve Microsoft’s agreed commitments to the customer/partner. Assess customer/partner needs and gathers information that helps others to identify growth opportunities.
Propose viable solutions based on specific technical products, demonstrate complex concepts and prove the capability of those solutions through design collaboration sessions with the customer/partner.
Apply technical knowledge of architecture solutions to meet business and information technology (IT) requirements and resolve identified technical constraints. shaping and enhancing customers’ requirements.
Support customer/partner projects as a subject matter expert in a specific architecture solution and throughout pre-sales and/or implementation.
Identify technical blockers (e.g., changing configurations, sample coding) for selected products to accelerate architecture implementations and routes non-technical issues for removal by the appropriate party.
Apply methodology and governance, as directed, to minimize business and technical risks and adhere to quality assurance while contributing to design and/or delivery of solutions (e.g. Well-Architected Framework, Enterprise Scale Landing Zone, Cloud Adoption Framework). Demonstrate an understanding of customer/partner conditions of success.
Practice Development
Support research projects and contribute to scoping surveys for customers/partners to assess potential intellectual property (IP) needs or process changes. Learn to identify opportunities for IP re-use and consumption.
Trusted Advisor
Identify and begin developing impactful relationships with internal teams and customer and partner/MCS technical specialists during initial preparation and ramp-up stages.
Respectfully challenge customers/partners when going in the wrong direction and escalates appropriately.
Understand the competitor’s architecture solutions and identify Microsoft’s strengths over competitive solutions to demonstrate Microsoft’s value to customers/partners.
Thought Leadership
Share ideas, insight, and technical input with virtual team members (e.g., Account team, enterprise channel managers, partner development manager [PDMs]) using a working knowledge of specific Microsoft architectures and other relevant products. Actively look for relevant communities to learn from and contribute to.
Participate in external architect community events (e.g., conferences, seminars, technical meetups, Webcasts, blogs, hackathons) and share learnings with the internal team.
Customer Usage
Participate in discussions around architecture design, resiliency reviews, and technical optimization that result in production deployment application and increase customer business value. Ensure that the customer’s environment and applications are well-architected

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in technology solutions, practice development, software development, consulting, and/or cloud/software development technologies
1+ years experience in application development tools like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, GitHub, Azure App Services, or other similar AppDev technologies
Technical
Enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, and technology management. Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following: required
Application development platforms on public clouds and/or Azure in development languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, PHP, C#, Node.JS targeting Android, iOS, Linux, Windows, public clouds or Azure.
Scalable architectures using Azure App Service, API management, serverless technologies, container orchestration (e.g. AKS, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift etc.), microservice frameworks etc.
Software development practices like DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e. Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure DevOps, GitHub). required
Understanding of Data & AI technologies in context of app development (e.g. SQL and NoSQL Databases, Big Data, Cognitive Service, Machine Learning etc.). preferred
Understanding of Low code platform and technologies such as Power Platform. preferred
Competitive Landscape. Knowledge of cloud development platforms required
Partners. Understanding of partner ecosystems and the ability to leverage partner solutions to solve customer needs required
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
Certification in the following technologies preferred: Cloud, mobile, web application development, cloud-native application architecture (i.e. containers, microservices, API management), modern software development techniques like DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e. Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure developer services, GitHub) and container orchestration systems (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, Azure Kubernetes Service, GitHub), Low Code (Power Platform).
