We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chief of Staff (Director of Business Management) to deliver and scale quality DWR services while strategizing and planning – taking the organization to the next level. We’re seeking an manager with high-energy, no-holds-barred enthusiasm for our customers’ and Microsoft’s success, business growth, and making DWR the best team/function it can be!
The Chief of Staff enables DWR realize its mission leading business strategy, management processes, and strategic initiatives. Working closely with the General Manager (GM), DWR leadership and SPT, the individual will represent DWR and achieve collaborative results across key business groups, segment communities, field segment leadership, partners, customers and other stakeholders. This individual must have a blend of outstanding strategic, communications, and business skills to successfully support the GM and organization while demonstrating excellence in business management.
The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor to the GM, DWR and SPT teams, setting the bar for a growth-mindset culture accommodating different work styles while also highly-organized, demonstrating consistent judgment, timely decisions in a fast paced/complete environment, and set priorities and plan across multiple projects. He/she must be able to navigate and change direction quickly, embrace ambiguity and challenges head-on with confidence and a positive, warm attitude.
Responsibilities
Core:
Support the organization with a multiyear strategy plan including detailed execution, prioritized services accruing to the overall Microsoft’s go to market, MS Customer & Partner Solutions and Strategic Partnerships Team (SPT) strategy
Participate actively in DWR Leadership team, including providing strategic input to planning and execution
Lead special strategic projects assigned by the GM
Deputize for GM, maximizing GM impact and scale, as needed
Lead prioritization and planning for GM engagement
Rhythm of the Business:
Act as the connection point with Business Planning to lead annual organization and company milestones and Rhythm of the Business (ROB) as defined Industry Solutions & SPT including work back schedules and tracking/driving to completion
Understand and analyze business trends and patters, connection with/across industry verticals, solution ares and customer financials through an analytical lens. Lead the team preparation for weekly and quarterly rhythms to influence senior leaders, “see around corners” and anticipate problem areas
Communications:
Manage DWR-specific rhythm and communications – LT meetings, All-hands, off-sites, DWR Exec Rhythm, Teams, training, awards, etc. This includes partnership and regular engagement with IS and SPT.
Lead the evolution of team culture – including working groups for MS Poll, onboarding of new employees, inclusiveness of remote employees and other activities with an aim of achieving best-in-class organizational health
Manage DWR communications plan – including presentations, travel briefs, newsletter and stakeholder communications. Grow the teams social presence.
Manage and drive DWR stakeholder map
Lead and organize bi-annual stakeholder iterate and improvement synchs across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia. Partner with GM to summarize patterns and trends
Business Operations:
Proactively manage the team staffing, budget, team calendar of events – working with SPT, Finance and HR stakeholders to understand headcount, program and discretionary spend and drive to quarterly and FY financial targets/accountabilities. Ensure all resource asks have defined business impact and ROI.
Participate as member of business manager community – collaborating on cross organizational projects and initiatives as appropriate
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) OR Master’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) OR or equivalent experience
7+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related rolea.
Prior Microsoft experience ideal
Demonstrated experience influencing leadership
Exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, integrity and professionalism at all times and all communications
Knowledge of corporate organization and culture and ability for successful navigation
Ability to react with appropriate urgency to situations and requests
Experience in digital transformation in process, tooling & communication
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, SharePoint and Power Apps. Ideal experience with Power BI.
Knowledge of Microsoft internal tools ideal: Employee Central, iCIMS, MS Travel, MS Expense, MS Approvals, MyOrder, MS Invoice, and HeadTrax

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $144,600 and $216,600.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
