Microsoft Worldwide Learning (WWL) is the spiritual leader of the learning culture within Microsoft. We are tasked with empowering those who empower the world through learning. We build world class learning and certification experiences for customers, partners, Microsoft employees, and students. The Security, Compliance, & Identity (SCI) content team within WWL is looking for a skilled and passionate technical professional with deep knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies in general, and Microsoft SCI Technolgies and Services in particular, to design, create and maintain a curriculum that provides a world-class learning experience for customers, partners, Microsoft employees, and students. The experienced and versatile technologist we seek must come complete with real-world experience in technical selling, consulting, designing, planning, developing, or implementing Microsoft SCI solutions in customer environments. This candidate also needs to exhibit a visible passion for training customers, and ideally, has experience as a content developer (training or documentation), technical writer/trainer, or as a technical presenter/speaker.
As part of WWL’s Content Development Team, the SCI-focused Content Developer will coordinate with the SCI Engineering and Marketing Teams and other business and technical groups within Microsoft to ensure all our certification and learning assets are created with a connected learning path in mind that benefits our customers. Strong communication and cross-group collaboration skills are necessary as you will be expected to stay plugged into all the relevant Azure-related product teams to keep abreast of rapid technology and industry changes that will drive the digital transformation of the industry. You will evaluate new technologies, features, and products, and curate existing content assets, create net-new content, and/or update existing content based on technical and industry changes. You’ll manage the content development schedule from concept and skills analysis all the way through final content release. Proven project management skills are essential to this role to keep projects on-track and on-budget during the content development life cycle. We want you to be our “authoritative source” for Azure technical content. You will need to think creatively because our customers are counting on us to provide them with the right certification and learning at the right time.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy
Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to develop content to educate customers about products. Develops and applies content strategy with assistance for one or more product/content/feature area(s) to ensure optimal content creation and serve customer needs, such as guiding customers through an end-to-end journey to leverage content/products that meet their needs. Helps identify points in product/content/feature area(s) where content is appropriate for customers to create appropriate content across product/content/feature areas(s). Looks across a set of content to understand strategy within particular area(s).
Content Creation
Applies principles to develop relevant, technically accurate content designed for a variety of users. Helps develop content plan that bridges surfaces, aligns with product strategy, and translates into content tasks in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., engineering, research, design, product) to understand products/content areas/features and problems to author optimal content. Develops content by first understanding prototypes and ideation of features for particular product/content/feature area(s). Applies a foundational understanding of in-product content and/or delivers code, samples, and prescriptive guidance to meet user needs.
Content Improvement
Reviews and improves content for possible inclusion in a portfolio for one or more areas. Follows approval and review process with team members. Works with stakeholders to assess shipped content for potential improvements and to incorporate changes. Tests and builds customer scenarios.
Tools and Operations
Develops skills necessary for creating and delivering content (individually or a small group). Collaborates with other teams to contribute tool efficiency into content creation and delivery. Has solid understanding of the tools and processes required for content development and publishing. Identifies opportunities, plans, drives and executes to improve efficiencies of tools and processes and suggests improvements.
Metrics and Insights
Applies insights from metrics to inform content. Uses metrics to measure customer satisfaction and/or business impact after content is published. Leverages customer feedback mechanisms to collect insights within a particular specialty area. Receives direction based on metrics to improve quality.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Collaborates with relevant cross-team and cross-project stakeholders (e.g., engineers, product managers, marketing, user experience [UX], design, research) to understand and align content with project goals. Maintains relationships with stakeholders to build rapport and credibility. Provides project input with managerial assistance and makes suggestions to stakeholders using comprehensive domain knowledge to achieve project goals.
Specialty Responsibility
Reviews writing tasks completed by vendors/freelancers for one or more area(s). Begins to facilitate and ensure the outsourcing of parts of work to different vendors/freelancers. Onboards vendors during the initial process. Creates calendar of work for assigned vendors to complete.
Customer Research
Participates in research studies to define a case to incorporate actionable insights into content for one or more area(s). Identifies and assists with determining customer research within one or multiple product/content area/feature(s) by evaluating internal and external data and reports through discussions with team members and cross-functional stakeholders. Synthesizes and consolidates information gathered from research in order to inform and assist with designing content strategy in line with customer and Microsoft needs and mutual goals.
Customer Enagement
Engages with customers and addresses customer feedback. Strives to make content customer focused by facilitating information sharing and incorporating changes from customer feedback. Engages with customer communities to provide support and expertise (e.g., blog posts, social posts, conversations, speaking at events).

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of proven writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming experience OR equivalent experience .
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of proven writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming experience OR
Evidence of hands-on technical experience with the Microsoft Clouds (Azure/M365/Dynamics) along with related SCI technologies and services (Sentinel, Defender, etc.) and a general broad understanding of Microsoft business value and product capabilities.
2+ years of proven writing, content design, IT, or coding/programming experience AND a Technical Certification or Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, English, Writing, Journalism, Communications or related field OR equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in a related technical domain(Hands-on experience with Microsoft SCI technologies and services is required and experience with other Azure services (e.g. Data/AI)
