We are hiring a Developer Advocate who is excited about empowering every developer on the planet to achieve more with tools and services like VS Code, GitHub and Azure.
As an Advocate focused on Microsoft’s developer tools and services, you’ll help build the best tooling on the planet. You’ll help communities understand how to get the most out of the tools they already love and show them how to take their editor game to 11. You’ll work to build a community of developers across programming languages who want to get the most out of their tools (hint: that’s everyone). You will play an essential role in the growth of Microsoft’s developer tools and services by creating amazing samples, content and focusing on winning the hearts and minds of technical audiences by making their lives demonstrably better.
This position is remote friendly in mainland US-based timezones.
Create content, videos, and samples from beginner to best practices that demonstrate how to use VS Code with services like GitHub and Azure.
Drive awareness around new tooling and options for Data Science and Cloud Native computing.
Champion new concepts like container driven development and coding on an iPad (yes, you can do that)
Network and build relationships with developers in many different technical communities
Help the next generation of developers be more productive by creating entry level content with a focus on education.
Partnering with the Microsoft field and developers in community programs to scale reach and impact
Win the hearts and minds of developers by building and/or contributing to key OSS projects and building cool, useful, or productive apps on the VS Code platform.
Use data, experiments, and customer feedback to drive growth across communities.
Find new ways to connect with developers in an increasingly remote world. Our desire is to bring people together and help them collaborate despite any boundaries they might encounter.
Demonstrated experience teaching complex concepts by breaking them down into easy-to-understand pieces.
A portfolio of existing writing and video examples
Eagerness to learn and work in new languages, platforms.
Solid communication skills – ability to be both a strong technical writer as well as a dynamic public speaker.
Passion for helping developers connect people and communities through the cloud.
A self-starter that can create, manage, and prioritize initiatives while driving across teams for results.
Travel may be required depending on where local and national developer events are held.
Previous experience as a developer advocate, developer evangelist, or external developer-focused role is preferred.
Proven experience working with 3rd party communities, social media and blogging required.
