The Modern Work Solutions Strategy Team is responsible for strategic business planning, portfolio management, and evangelizing the art of the possible for Modern Workplace Solutions to our field. This includes working alongside Digital Advisors, Customer Success Managers, Services Solution Sales Professionals, and Industry Architects as we help our customers design and realize their own unique Modern Workplace capabilities. Within Modern Work, we are on a continuous transformational journey to adapt ourselves to the evolving ways of working. We truly believe that to deliver on our Modern Work mission we must prepare our teams and customers for the future of work.
The Director, Future of Work has the primary responsibility of building a Center of Excellence related to topics such as the workplace of the future and next generation workplaces. As Future of Work leader, you will be responsible for assessing the uncertainty and implications of future events leading to changes in how, when and where work is done, who or what does the work, and even what is considered work. Working in close collaboration with the Modern Work Leadership team, you will help define an enterprise-wide unified future of work strategy. This role will also be expected to develop various thought leadership including whitepapers, reports, conference presentations and ultimately help our customers redesign work, reimagine their workplace and reskill their workforce.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Create a central, unified definition of Modern Work for the organization and responsible for creating a COE for Future of Modern Work domain.
Lead development of technical solutions in the forms of prototypes, POCs, demos and applications depending on the customer needs
Develop the organization’s 3 year out Modern Work strategy, vision and point of view working with multiple cross-disciplinary stakeholders by engaging with Solution Architects to align Product Engineering Group.
Engage a wide range of stakeholders across the organization on assessing Modern Work trends (including but not limited to new employment models, hybrid workforce, skills of the future, automation and socioeconomic transformation) and their implications on the organization. Facilitate an ongoing discussion leading to actionable outcomes.
Forecast and manage potential risks to the organization’s support of Modern Work initiatives.
Lead the creation of Modern Work thought leadership, whitepapers and points of view to help our customers act on their Modern Work priorities and initiatives. Establish COE library for publishing and sharing best practices and insights, both internally and externally.
Have strong communication, collaboration and negotiation skills, able to work with other innovation, engineering, sales and domain leadership to find, create and deliver the right technology solutions for our customers.
Partner with the Microsoft Research organization to leverage any primary research conducted that could be applicable to our domain.
Scan the industry, 3rd party partners and market to stay up to date on the latest work, workforce or workplace trends. Conduct product and services competitive analysis related to our domain.
Lead internal and external communication on Modern Work initiatives being undertaken by the organization. Play the role of a Modern Work Evangelist and Storyteller to help reach all of our desired targets.
Be the champion for Technology Change where required in order to meet competitive and market requirements.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience within a Strategy function
10+ years working with Microsoft technologies (Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Power RPA, Azure)
5+ years in a Sr Manager / Director level technology role
Strong UX and technical background and experience working in product, prototype or POC development
Strong consultative skills including critical thinking and creative problem solving
Strong understanding of Modern Work, employee experience and relevant technologies that are part of this domain.
Strong understanding and experience with AR, VR, MR and XR
Ability to lead and persuade in a global, complex and matrixed environment
Experience in setting up and leading cross-functional teams and leading change management or transformation initiatives
Ability to influence and inspire a wide variety of stakeholders across the organization
Solid market and business acumen and experience working across multiple business functions such as HR, finance and technology

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $144,600 and $216,600.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
