As a Principal HW IO Virtualization Architect in the Silicon Engineering and Solutions team, you will drive the HW virtualization architecture for the product and be at the center of chip design and enabling effort all the way from defining architecture, helping with implementation, ensuring verification coverage and finally with silicon bring-up and validation, for our projects. This new team will be involved in numerous projects within Microsoft developing custom silicon for a diverse set of systems. We are responsible for delivering cutting-edge, custom SoC designs that can perform complex and high-performance functions in the most efficient manner. In this high impact & highly visible role on the team, you will be responsible for:
Leading the architecture definition of HW components to enable HW virtualization of IO devices
Defining IP targets for performance, power, security, speeds, and feeds across multiple products
Continue to assess and then refine the architecture to optimize for product goals, while taking area, power, and performance into consideration. Challenge the status quo with a growth mindset.
Collaboration across HW, FW and SW teams to optimize full stack solution.
Author the architectural specification to represent the vision of the product for key consuming partner architects, as well as FW, design, and verification engineers.
Mentor and assist junior level engineers to learn and grow.
Qualifications
Requirements:
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience with 8+ years of experience in the field of architecture.
Ability to work with multiple teams with proven collaboration, communication, and leadership.
Additional Preferred Requirements:
Computer system and silicon architecture knowledge in areas such as I/O device and accelerator architecture, performance, quality of service, power management, security, interconnects, microprocessors, and memory systems.
Extensive experience in virtualization, including understanding of memory management of the Hypervisor and Guest OS
Understanding of PCIe device programming models and features like PCIe ATS and PRI
Understanding of SOC Interrupt architecture
Understanding of Security threat models and architecting secured access paths
Understanding of industry standard coherent and non-coherent protocols
Detailed understanding of Performance and Power Architecture and Modeling
