The Developer Productivity team is looking for a strong Senior Product Manager to drive improvements in engineering processes, tools, and services that Microsoft engineers use every day, to make them more productive and release high quality code more efficiently and with less friction. We are a customer-obsessed team that relies heavily on data and customer feedback to identify key areas of improvement in development processes and deliver solutions and features to address them.
Responsibilities
Our team improves the productivity of developers & program managers across Azure and Windows by providing them quality services, tools, and guidance. We are a fun tightly knit team who are extremely passionate about what we do and how we come together as team to do it. The ideal candidate is passionate about engaging with customers to understand their needs well and is data-driven in making decisions. You will work on features of the Engineering System that help developers in Azure and Windows deliver features and quality, faster and more efficiently than ever, including:
Understand our customers to identify key insights to ensure we deliver great customer experiences which solve real world problems.
Work with partners and key stakeholders to define the vision and strategy.
Meet with, and survey customers (Microsoft engineers), identifying their core needs and unmet expectations.
Define success measures for the feature team and ensure technical investments are driven by data & customer feedback.
Write functional specifications which fully describe problems & opportunities, scenarios, and requirements.
Provide leadership throughout the entire development cycle to deliver technical designs, features, and user experiences with measurable results.
Identify risks & issues that impede success to provide effective solutions & recommendations.
Drive cross group collaboration, ensuring partner needs are met, and requests are clearly communicated.
Communicate across a broad set of partners to ensure key stakeholders clearly understand purpose, progress, and can provide feedback.
Leverage existing telemetry data to gather insight into customer behaviors to drive prioritization decisions and feature improvements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent experience.
5+ years of Product/Program Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on a Produce/Project requiring cross-group collaboration, finding common goals novel solutions to tough problems.
Experience in software engineering and development, which is the customer you are representing.
Experience in a role meeting with customers or representing customer needs within the business.
Passion for improving developer experiences, self-motivated and self-directed, who continuously strives to make things better.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex problems from a customer centric point of view.
Customer-obsessed, and results-oriented with a laser focus on customer impact.
Experience working on a technically challenging complex problem space.
Knowledge of engineering systems and processes at a large scale.
Strong technical skills, with a track record of successfully designing and delivering solutions for complex technical problems.
Genuine self-starter, who pro-actively identifies problems, proposes solutions, and drives a team to address them.
Open-minded and continuously searching for “Why” behind the data being reported/observed.
