The Productivity + Intelligence group is passionate about developing universal solutions to all information access scenarios with abilities of semantic search, complex reasoning, robust generalization, and breaking boundaries between various user scenarios and data modalities. Responsibilities
As a key contributor on our mission to achieve universal search and recommendation, you will work with other team members to conduct fundamental research and build systems toward our goal of push-button semantic search for everyone. Potential research directions to achieve that goal include: better pretraining, representation learning, network architecture modeling, learning strategies, etc. As a team member in Microsoft Research, you will have the opportunity to develop your career as a member of a world-class research organization. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
PhD (completed or close to completion) or equivalent experience with anticipated graduation on or before September 2022, in computer science or other related field (e.g., statistics, information science). An example of equivalent experience is 3+ years of experience working on cutting-edge techniques in deep learning, NLP, IR or related fields and 5-10 publications in relevant top tier conferences and journals – at least three of which you are primary author.
A research track-record demonstrated by publications as primary author in a top-tier peer-reviewed outlet on AI, NLP, Information Retrieval, or Machine Learning conference (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ACL, WSDM, ICML, KDD, SIGIR, etc.) or engineering contributions to top-notch AI projects in these areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working across academic disciplines; or experience across theoretical and applied settings.
A well-established research track record as demonstrated by publications, open-source software, etc.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively as part of a team.
Experiences in large scale language model training on multi-machine GPU environments.
Extensive hands-on experience with common deep learning frameworks.
