Power BI is quite possibly one of the most exciting Microsoft services today, frequently in the news, growing its user base very rapidly, and making waves across the industry. The Administration & Governance team delivers scalable and data driven products and features that are core for Power BI. This work is designed to ensure that customers experience exceptionally fast service interactions and can efficiently manage Power BI for their organization.
We rely on numerous Azure technologies like Service Fabric, SQL Azure, REDIS cache, Service Bus, API Management, blob storage, Document DB, Azure Data Lake, Kusto, containers, etc. We are building and expanding a world-class service that combines big data, mission critical services, and real-time insights. Responsibilities
The Data Cloud Administration & Governance Team manages various reports that are consumed by Power BI customers to monitor capacity resource utilization, to gain insights into report performance and usage patterns, as well as to visualize and query audit events. You will play a key role in ensuring that these reports are industry-leading and provide insights for tenant administrators and content owners to understand how Power BI products are used within their organization. In addition to the external facing reports, the team maintains internal reports that monitor end-to-end performance of the service. You will leverage and enhance these reports to drive insights for engineering teams across the Power BI product group. These learnings will be essential to creating and prioritizing performance initiatives. In addition to your own individual contributions, you will manage a team of data analysts and service engineers to accelerate and operationalize reporting changes.
Responsibilities include:
Own and develop the data models and reports for external facing customers
Own, develop, and drive insights from performance data for product engineers
Manage monitoring and alerting based on performance data
Manage team of data analysts, scientists, and site reliability engineers (SREs)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience in leading teams
4+ years of experience in analyzing large volumes of data, extracting insights, processing large data sets, and building visualizations using reporting tools such as Power BI
Preferred Qualifications
Basic understanding of statistics and machine learning
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to synthesize complex issues/scenarios into easy-to-understand concepts
Action-oriented, self-motivated, agile, attending to detail and driven to think out-of-the-box
Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries
Ability to influence diverse audiences and build strong partnerships with stakeholders
Previous experience working with enterprise-scale cloud services and/or applications
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Math/Computer Science/Economics/Business or Engineering or equivalent
