As the foundation of Microsoft’s commercial Cloud Services, Azure is the infrastructure upon which Microsoft builds its mission critical hyperscale cloud services, and it is the set of services we provide for customers building cloud services to address business requirements.
Azure continues to build the largest global footprint of any public Cloud provider. Within Azure’s engineering team, there are specialized units responsible for each of the commercial industries and areas of Azure’s expansion. The Azure Global Geo Expansion and Growth group is focused on expanding Azure’s footprint and unlocking new markets. The Americas Country Engineering team is part of this WW group. Our focus is on “going deep” with customers to understand their toughest problems and look for how Azure can solve them; and then scaling this to work for every customer within the country. We do this globally and work across the broad range of Azure technologies understanding customer scenarios, cloud patterns and adoption blockers.
The Americas Country Engineering team is looking for a technically minded, business savvy Principal Program Manager to lead our continued expansion and growth of Azure in the United States. You will partner closely with your colleagues, engineering and infrastructure teams, as well as subsidiary to drive adoption of Azure. You will be responsible for programmatically removing engineering blockers to foster growth in the consumption of Azure services and unlock new market opportunities. By connecting your technical experience, along with our customers’ vision directly to the engineering product teams, you will help ensure Azure is the most compelling solution for running tier one workloads that further our customer’s mission.
Responsibilities
As the Country Engineering Lead (CEL), you will define country-relevant priorities for Engineering investments and infrastructure to maximize the adoption of Azure in the United States. This includes the definition and execution of infrastructure investment strategies, as well as tailored engineering-led programs and motions that remove technical constraints, unblock customer adoption and enable key new markets and technologies.
The successful candidate must be customer obsessed, collaborative, outcome orientated, and be able to apply solution-based thinking to critical problems. The Country Engineering Lead (CEL) is expected to constantly innovate and move upstream, whilst creating a sustainable operational environment.
In the pursuit of highly optimised Azure infrastructure relevant to the unique local market needs, the Country Engineering Lead (CEL) will capture and signal platform & data centre priorities to Engineering that deliver the right product/market fit and thereby enable the country’s potential. This includes the acceleration of service requirements, the signalling of customer-centric platform requirements and removal of engineering obstacles.
The Country Engineering Lead (CEL) will engage directly with key customers and partners up to the CXO level, supporting partnerships and opportunities with tier one customers, whilst also driving large strategic and complex projects. Additionally, the successful candidate will establish partnerships and a unified operating model with the local subsidiary and provide transparency and situational awareness of Azure Engineering investments and priorities through regular engagement and reporting.
