Strategic Sourcing Manager – Battery, Charging, and Circuit Boards (BCCB) Responsibilities:
Develop commodity or category sourcing strategies ensuring the suppliers are capable of meeting RL’s current and future technical and business requirements by analyzing market trends and technologies
Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage the Request for Quote (RFQ) process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with the Battery Engineering Team, Quality, and other cross-functional partners
Create, negotiate, and execute various comprehensive agreements as needed with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms
Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply issue
Work with CM partners to resolve any part shortages or quality problems which affects production schedules
Own the ramp plan, ongoing production plan and forecast, tooling qualification schedule and tooling life for all designated suppliers
Identify emerging battery technologies and partner with Strategic Sourcing Technology Team on evaluation and commercial partnership structures
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
7+ years work experience in sourcing or related disciplines in power including battery cell and pack or related commodities
Experience in technology and supplier evaluation/selection, should cost models, contract negotiations and supply base management
5+ years of leadership, program management, and cross-functional teamwork experience
Experience communicating with and influencing all levels of management especially senior and executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
9+ years of sourcing experience with 3+ years of experience managing suppliers with factories in domestic and international locations highly valued
Deep knowledge and experience with lithium-ion battery market, manufacturing, and supply chain
Experience to independently initiate, lead, and influence cross functional initiatives, processes, and projects
Comprehensive understanding of commercial partnership and deal structures with start-up and emerging battery technology companies
