Preferred Location : Santa Clara
This position is for a Mid-level datacenter technician. The employee will have work assignments on server hardware maintenance, network hardware deployments, asset management, infrastructure build out, datacenter maintenance, tape backup management, and overall datacenter process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Receive/ship data center equipment.
- Rack and install datacenter equipment.
- Maintain asset inventory.
- Troubleshoot,repair, and RMA failed datacenter hardware.
- Be accessible via pager and/or cell phone.
- Participate in training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.
Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of Oracle servers hardware preferably HP Proliant servers.
- Experience working in a datacenter environment.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong interest in learning.
- Dependable.
- Process oriented.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment on occasion.
Must Have Skills:
- 1 years troubleshooting PC hardware (memory, storage, SCSII, network, motherboards).
- 1 years experience in with datacenter maintenance.
- Cabling experience (Ethernet, Fiberchannel, cable management).
- Electrical systems experience.
- Good Documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize
Nice to Have Skills:
- Linux
- scripting
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Compaq / HP Hardware experience (Proliant), preferably with Linux
Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.
Monitor the fundamental server/network capacity. Determine the characteristics of a problem and either resolve the problem immediately and/or record, escalate, and track the problem through to closure and to the customer*s satisfaction.
Work involves some problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and procedures. BS in Computer Science or related field. Valid drivers license.
