Engineering management position responsible for a development engineering group/team. Group activities may include responsibilities for designing, developing, modifying, verifying, characterizing, evaluating or validating, testing in the areas of integrated circuits, semiconductor process technologies, and semiconductor packaging, resulting in innovative products and services for internal or external customers and/or internal use which leverages new technology and advances Oracle’s competitive advantage in the market place. Serves as a liaison with customers/partners/vendors regarding design/product features, applications and/or new product introduction. May negotiate relationships with customers, vendors and partners.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of engineering or related experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lab Manager for Oracle’s Santa Clara Regulatory Compliance Labs (SCA09)
    • Interface to campus Facilities team with regards to environmental maintenance/controls and safety for all 5x Labs in SCA09
    • Environmental Test Engineering (ETE), Packaging, EMC/EMI, Safety, Energy Efficiency
    • Responsible for daily operation of the Labs including:
      • Maintenance of computer systems to ensure compliance with latest Oracle SW security standards (e.g. OS upgrades etc.)
      • Maintenance and calibration of power systems and test and measurement equipment for the EMC and Safety Labs
      • Maintenance and calibration of Environmental Test Engineering (ETE) and Packaging lab equipment including:
        • Thermal chambers
        • Dynamics, shock and vibration tables and shakers, drop testing
        • System controllers (computers)
        • Weigh scales
      • Equipment rentals as required
  • Responsible for annual budgeting of equipment calibration costs, and purchase of new Lab capital equipment including test and measurement equipment and Lab infrastructure updates to maintain pace with product technology
  • Position is the responsible Quality Manager for the SCA09 Labs
    • Activities include:
      • Ensuring the Lab’s Quality Assurance Procedures (Quality Assurance Manual and associated documents) meet the requirements of the latest ISO/IEC 17025 Lab Management standard
      • Maintenance and updates to the Lab’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as required by changing regulatory standards and ISO/IEC 17025
      • Successful planning and execution of NIST / NVLAP Accreditation audits for the EMC Lab and for Underwriters Laboratories (UL)accreditation audits for the Safety Lab
      • Maintains other international accreditations for the Lab, for example, Japan (VCCI) and S. Korea standards
      • Reviews and approves EMC / EMI test reports
      • Maintenance and archival of Lab equipment specifications
  • Lab Staff management
    • Position is responsible for the management of a small team of ETE Engineers and EMC Test Engineers including day-to-day management and performance management of those individuals using Oracle’s Human Capital Management tools.
