. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical direction in the selection, development and definition of Storage Arrays to External Storage Product companies and then work closely with the selected suppliers from concept to product qualification, and validation to successful product release and volume production.
You will also actively participate in all of the development efforts such as Storage system design feasibility, test and verification process including test automation and then manage the smooth transition to manufacturing environment for volume production. You will ensure the Storage Array design can be integrated into data center rack level, and can function optimally within this environment.
The list of responsibilities include: develop Product requirements., Reviewing and selecting Suppliers for Storage Arrays., Conducting detailed design reviews of the selected Storage Arrays , Specifying Oracle requirements and critical to quality criteria, Defining and implementing test and validation criteria for the subsystem and its components in all System configurations, applications and workloads, provide expertise in analyses of all technical issues and manage the root cause and corrective action process to successful completion in collaboration with the Storage system suppliers with a strong sense of urgency and ownership, Communicate clearly and provide directions to less senior staff members and serve as a role model/mentor.
You will also collaborate closely with Test Engineering, Value Engineering, and Industrial Design groups to integrate cross-functional feedback into the Storage system’s design intent. In addition, you will work closely with internal Operation/Manufacturing Engineering groups and External Manufacturers to resolve all issues that may arise in manufacturability process, and provide technical support as required in the transfer to volume production.. You must have prior experience and a proven track record to demonstrate successful deployment of Storage systems and should have architected, designed, built, and deployed storage solutions.
Engineering Requirements:
The candidate at minimum must have a BS Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with at least 10 years of direct hands-on experience in a related high-tech industry with the following specific requirements:
- Extensive engineering experience with Storage Array architectures, design of tests and qualification of HDD, SSD, Host Bus Adaptors, Expanders and Enclosure Management Modules and overall Subsystem is required.
- Deep experience with SAS, NVMe, SATA, SES, PCIe protocols, good understanding of transport layers and signal integrity compliance testing and issue resolution is desirable
- Experience with the Signal Integrity tests of sub-components such as signal Cables.
- Familiarity with Circuit Diagrams and schematics desirable.
- Experience with and good understanding of Storage system and Rack level validation tests process that may include, Environmental Test Engineering , Vibration and thermal testing & characterization. Familiarity with Electromagnetic Compliance (EMI/EMC) is a plus
- Prior working experience with system integration into data center rack level and meeting environmental requirements are also a plus.
- Ability to write, review and edit Linus test scripts, test automation tools, Python, C/C++ and use of Diagnostic tools are also desirable.
