Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Staff Nurse I uses the nursing process to safely, therapeutically and efficiently care for a group of patients. Uses information from a variety of sources to assess, plan implement and evaluate the results of patient care.

Required qualifications:

• New graduate to 6 months experience as a RN in a health care setting.
• Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association
• Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – Emergency Nurses Association (for Emergency Department at SRMH only)
• Upon hire: Intravenous Procedural Sedation Certification within 6 weeks, Phlebotomy certification within 1 month, PICC Line Certification within 6 months of class, Port-a-Cath Certification within 3 months – (for Float Nurse)
• 7820 MEDSURG ICU – 10006470 – Provider ACLS – American Heart Association – within 6 months (180 days) of hire
• 7820 MEDSURG ICU – 10006470 – Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Certificate – NIH Stroke Scale Training Course – within 6 months (180 days) of hire

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Upon hire: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – Emergency Nurses Association (for Float Nurse)
• Within 1 year of hire: Chemo certified (for Oncology 3 West)
