Tesla is seeking an Audio DSP Engineer with demonstrated ability to own the design, test and release of Digital Signal Processing implementations over multiple product release cycles. This Engineer should have a strong understanding of the design of embedded systems for automotive audio products and have the ability to implement algorithms for sound optimizations. This Engineer must thrive in a start-up company environment with great opportunities for growth and spectacular achievement.
Responsibilities
Develop audio signal processing firmware across the product pipeline of Tesla vehicles
Own DSP systems and software from inception to end of life
Develop algorithms to optimize the sound experience
Design the DSP software architecture and frameworks
Work with suppliers on design and testing of Infotainment related audio products
Bring up new audio DSP platforms and products, validating board level and vehicle level prototypes including electrical and acoustic measurements
Test and validate audio systems and components in the lab and on the road
Plan, execute, interpret, and document product development and validation testing
Define DSP requirements for future applications
Work cross functionally with other teams within Tesla from multiple disciplines to reach fact-based decisions
Requirements
Bachelor’s of Engineering, or equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional abilities.
Solid technical depth in DSP, acoustics and electronics
Strong DSP programming skills in C, C++, and assembly.
Has developed algorithms and architected audio DSP systems for shipping products.
Has experience maintaining code over the lifecycle of audio products and the pipeline of future products.
Experience with vectorization, DSP code optimization, implementation of numerical algorithms.
Experience developing with audio and plugin frameworks e.g. JUCE, Max/MSP, Audio Weaver, VST plugins, Audio Unit plugins, etc.
Has implemented and shipped audio firmware on embedded DSPs, e.g. ADI ADSP, HiFi Core, Qualcomm Hexagon, TI C55X/C66x, etc.
Ability to communicate and drive suppliers and algorithm vendors (Technical and Product Management skills)
Strong problem solving skills and motivation to work in a dynamic, fast paced, multitasking environment
