Tesla Looking For Calibration Technician at Fremont, CA Full Time

This position will work as a member of Tesla’s Instrumentation and Imaging Team to ensure proper calibration and control of equipment used in tests performed in-house and at external test labs. This role is responsible for performing and overseeing all calibrations, both internal and external. The successful candidate for this position will have a broad background calibrations and project management.

What You’ll Do

• Perform in-house calibration of devices by comparing measurements of pressure, temperature, acceleration, or other environmental conditions to known standards.
• Analyze data to identify defects or determine calibration requirements.
• Conduct calibration tests to determine performance or reliability of mechanical, structural, or electro-mechanical equipment.
• Create daily work plans to achieve test plan goals on schedule.
• Maintain inventory and organize several different pieces of equipment, tools, and consumables
• Maintain sensor library, sensor repair, coordinate calibration activities of all instrumentation
• Work with vendors and coordinate onsite/ external calibrations.
• Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment.
• Will work with several internal teams to evaluate technical specifications to identify equipment or systems best suited for intended use and possible purchase, based on specifications, user needs, or technical requirements.
• Design and create custom brackets and fixtures for internal calibrations.
• Develop new calibration methods or techniques based on measurements science, analyses, or calibration requirements.
• Execute activities with defined scope and complexity and require minimal guidance from higher level team members

What You’ll Bring

• Experience with standalone calibration systems
• Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and shop equipment
• Ability to operate and use diagnostic tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment
• Proficient with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project), and Adobe products
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work, including the public
• Demonstrated independent and self-motivated professional with the capability to handle several tasks with minimal supervision
• Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
• Work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals
• Maintain top level professional integrity and appearance as a calibration technician
• Has a basic understanding of calibration standards such as calibration ratio and inaccuracy specifications, moving into linear vs. non-linear calibrations.
• Knowledge in NIST traceability and other metrology standards preferred

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4 years of calibration experience
• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
