The Tesla Technical Training Instructor – Safety will take responsibility for delivering courses, mentoring technicians and engineers in areas of industrial safety. The ideal candidate would bring applicable industry experience to the table and will be armed with an innovative problem-solving ability.
Responsibilities
Train and certify Tesla equipment maintenance, equipment engineering, and facilities technicians for: fall protection, lock-out tag-out, arc flash protection, high voltage awareness, high voltage advanced training, confined space awareness.
Partner with EHS and other training stakeholders to ensure all Tesla training meets OSHA safety requirements.
Partner with EHS team to monitor facility/team trends with incident occurrence, employee feedback, and continuous improvement projects to anticipate and proactively fill training/knowledge gaps appropriately.
Create course materials, such as PowerPoints, student handouts, and tests for instructor-led programs with student assessments.
Schedule training classes to meet customer demand.
Travel to all site locations as and when required to fulfill site training requirements.
Lead training modules (classroom and online) for Tesla technicians on a variety of technical topics.
Engage production management, engineering, maintenance, quality, EHS and subject matter experts to gather required technical information on complex manufacturing processes and technologies.
Monitor human error trends as a result of training to assess training impacts and provide solutions to demonstrate a downward trend.
Cross-train on other safety topics with guidance from EHS department.
Requirements
3+ years of training experience within a manufacturing environment.
3+ years of hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Fall protection, aerial lift, confined space entry, high voltage electrical work, lock-out tag-out, forklift truck usage.
Familiarity or expertise with Learning Management Systems a plus.
Excellent oral and written training/communication skills.
Proficiency with Learning Management Systems
Proficiency with the development of training programs and materials, including student assessments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2013 or later.
Demonstrated experience as a team-oriented self-starter, eager to meet and exceed objectives, with the ability to handle a multi-project environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of production processes and systems (i.e. workflow, safety, using software applications, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position will require flexibility in working hours and occasional weekend work.
