The Role: Engineering team is looking for engineering technicians to work alongside engineers testing vehicle components for accelerated product life durability. Technicians personally assemble and disassemble vehicle components (e.g., doors, seats, windows, mirrors, coolant pumps) and hand fabricate test fixtures, as well as execute tests. Responsibilities include inspecting for and analyzing any issues that arise during tests. Troubleshooting and root-cause analysis will cover mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vehicle communication systems. Detailed documentation skills are crucial to the role. This role is very hands-on. A successful candidate for this role must have a strong hands-on background in an engineering environment, as well as the passion and drive to get things done in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
Execute tests: setup, perform inspections, can conduct maintenance, and retrofits
Identify and conduct root-cause analysis of test failures
Document and report issues identified during tests or inspections
Collaborate with engineers to resolve mechanical & electrical issues discovered
Provide detailed written & verbal test status updates to key stake holders
Support engineers in instrumentation and data acquisition
Design, fabricate, assemble, & wire test fixtures
Validate test setup (ensure correct voltages, forces, torques, sample installation)
Maintain test equipment
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Essential Skills:
1+ years of experience in an Engineering Technician Role
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project)
Analytical problem-solving skills & root cause analysis
Ability to read wiring diagrams
Troubleshooting of mechanical and pneumatic systems
Understanding of Ohms law, Kirchhoff’s laws
Experience with measurement tools (multi-meters, force gauges, torque wrenches)
Experience with fabrication equipment (drills, Band Saw)
Experience with testing fastener torque values
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Flexibility to work long hours and weekends when required
Additional Preferred Skills:
2 year technical/automotive degree preferred
Custom fabrication of metal structures
Hands-on experience with HVAC and refrigerant systems
Extensive knowledge of electronic or pneumatic actuators
Troubleshooting of CAN and LIN systems
Some Python programming experience
Experience with assembly/design of custom low voltage wire harnesses
Experience with thermal control systems
Industrial automation and controls (PLC, VFD, sensors, actuators)
Aluminum brazing / soldering
High voltage certification or past work experience
Experience operating forklifts or similar handling equipment
