Tesla is looking for a Senior Architect to work on large scale ground-up Engineering-Procurement-Construction project that requires exceptional talent. The product portfolio is expanding with never-built-before production lines, and requirements demand cell production volume at a scale which was once thought to be impossible to reach. In this role, you will be asked to be the primary architecture lead for the design and engineering efforts to support construction of infrastructure development, from concept level to production.

What You’ll Do

Lead all architectural design concept evaluations and decisions, leading to completion of construction drawings for permit and construction execution

Manage multiple projects throughout planning, design, bid, and construction phases

Drive support staff, internal and 3rd-party engineers

Interface with external Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms during bid and project execution phases as needed to ensure that designs and specifications meet our Engineering Standards.

Apply engineering fundamentals and a broad set of architectural design tools to solve technical problems and create novel detailed designs for a wide range of building systems

Responsible for developing architectural design packages for permitting and construction

Review and develop designs that are cost effective, constructable, code compliant while meeting Tesla’s quality and schedule requirements

Effectively and proactively communicate project needs, changes, and status to internal and external team members

Develop and mentor less experienced engineering staff

Present design concepts and progress at project milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) design reviews to stakeholders and multi-discipline teams

Able to develop quantity take offs and assist with cost estimating for projects in short time frames

Work with various manufacturing, construction, and facilities stakeholders to understand end user needs and deliver results that meet the collective teams needs

Assist with development of Scope of Work, Basis of Design, Scheduling, and Estimating documents.

Must be able to prioritize and manage heavy workload on multiple projects to ensure high quality and productivity

Resolving design issues creatively and thoroughly coordinating design with other disciplines

Develop process improvements, workflows, and templates to increase design productivity

Develop and document permit exemption lists, AM&Ms, Variances with local jurisdictions

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent experience and the evidence of exceptional ability. Master’s Degree preferred

Minimum of 10 years Architectural design experience

Licensed Architect in state of Nevada, or ability to acquire state license

Excellent communication skills essential for team-based working

Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.

Professional design experience in a wide range of project types including manufacturing facilities, utility plants, office, mission critical/data centers, restaurant, high tech/R&D, bio-tech/pharmaceutical and industrial

Knowledge and experience with creating code analysis summaries including life safety plans

Experience developing custom details to support unique facility design conditions

Construction Administration experience including site observation visits and review of RFIs, and shop drawings

Direct experience in the preparation of architectural contract drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Master’s Degree in Architecture

Experience in architectural design of buildings for high-tech infrastructure, industrial, or operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)

Proficient with Revit Architecture

Ability to create site & building renderings for concept evaluations and executive level presentations
