What to Expect

The Role:
The Maintenance Planner Engineer (BIW) will have extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in Body Shop automation, working in an engineering and maintenance reliability-focused capacity. This role requires experience with critical spare part identification, spare part management, and maintenance work order tracking & reporting. Partnering with reliability engineering and maintenance management to optimize MTTR & MTBF and ensure critical spare part identification and availability. This role includes daily scheduling, coordination, delegation, tracking, and reporting of non-core activity for new and existing equipment with various internal groups and contractors to support the daily operation of every line across 4 shifts operating 24-7.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with engineering, maintenance, production, and other technical groups to identify critical spare part requirements, including justification and proposal to management.
  • Review spare part consumption, min/max settings, and inventory validation.
  • Create purchase orders to order / reorder spare parts & MRO parts as required to ensure availability and optimal MTTR.
  • Evaluate spare part stock location setup to mitigate part delivery delay during breakdowns & identify opportunities for local inventory based on consumption and impact.
  • Assist maintenance, engineering, and production with coordination & scheduling of daily non-core work.
  • Support maintenance management with preventative maintenance planning systems, prioritization, and workload evaluation. Including creating critical job standards, specifications and goals.
  • Review & analyze MTTR to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Support plantwide shutdown planning; Including summary of planned work, headcount, cost, safety, and other metrics.
  • Support with internal permit issuance and confirmation.
  • Support reliability engineering with activity tracking, data analysis, plant simulation, and system improvements.
  • Coordinate technical training & technical support with vendors and other internal or external groups as applicable.
  • FTA, ETA, and SFMEA creation for critical assets, processes and larger MTTR impacts.
  • Support / assist Maintenance in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures. Attend larger breakdowns to coordinate next steps, part / tool requirements, and MTTR tracking.
  • PMO analysis & coordination to ensure maintenance effort is optimized and prioritized based on impact risk.
  • Define, coordinate & implement predictive maintenance with contractors and technical groups.
  • Create & evaluate asset management standards and plans, consulting with vendors, contractors, MRO suppliers, and other internal technical groups.
  • Equipment and component lifecycle management, including EOL risk evaluation and vendor engagement.
  • Documentation of maintenance tasks / processes, spare parts, changepoint documentation, operator instructions, bulletins.
  • Provide technical training to maintenance, production, and other internal resource groups.
  • Study technologies to expert-level of understanding, utilizing internal & external technical resources to fully understand, teach and lead new / newly implemented technologies.
  • Working in a hands-on capacity in a production environment to fully understand scope, impact, and associated challenges.
  • Provide technical support to production, maintenance, quality, and other groups as required.

What You’ll Bring

Requirements

  • 3+ Years of experience working with CMMS, ERP or equivalent tool to manage work orders and spare parts
  • 3+ Years of experience working in in a technical role
  • 3+ Years of project management and effective delegation experience
  • Proficient with Excel and database applications for data analysis
  • Production modelling & changepoint simulation experience
  • Proven strong technical aptitude
  • Proven ability to present succinctly to peer and management levels
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to objectively resolve conflict within a large group.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work flexible hours and schedules as required.
