Tesla’s cell manufacturing team is looking for an experienced and driven Materials Planner to manage inventories and ensure that material resources are consistent with production schedules. The planner will be responsible for the administration and optimization of the raw materials, packaging materials and consumables supply across the production stream for Tesla’s cell manufacturing. Will deploy supply strategies and help to drive inventory accuracy to execute planning successfully. The material planner is responsible for product change and associated parts planning implications, manage and solve exceptions, and drive supplier execution partnering with the Global Supply Managers. This role involves daily management of supply and constraints, status reporting and escalation, supplier engagement and the relentless pursuit of operational excellence and continuous improvement. A successful Material Planner should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production and product delivery.
What You’ll Do
Manage planning system parameters and master data to optimally reflect supply chain capabilities and plan for parts and vendors.
Determining the required materials and possibly generating purchase orders.
Support material manufacturing by ensuring raw materials, packaging materials and consumables are stocked and ready for production.
Responsible for the inbound material schedule and driving controls to monitor proper receiving transactions.
Build and maintain operational partnerships with assigned suppliers.
Act as the interface with suppliers on delivery status, issues, and resolution.
Manage quality standards and testing criteria for required testing criteria to ensure continuous supply.
Perform analysis that supports defining the roadmap for production capacity increases / change.
Support onboarding and training of new suppliers to ensure operational excellence and compliance with Tesla’s supply chain processes and policies.
Issue purchase orders to vendor and track status of parts and equipment to support the maintenance team.
Generate and publish spare parts and consumable metrics
Communicating plans, plan revisions, and production vs. plan to all manufacturing, support, and business stakeholders.
Create and publish weekly and daily schedules.
What You’ll Bring
BA or BS degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred but not required.
2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, supply chain, purchasing, or a related position.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP with a solid understanding of bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure to pay processes and supply chain operations.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making or present clear recommendations to leadership.
