Tesla is recruiting for motivated and experienced Production Control Supervisors to join our Energy Warehousing Team in Lathrop, CA. The successful candidates will manage day-to-day inbound receiving, parts put-away and material pick-and-load for just-in-time delivery to the Megafactory. Expectations include the critical role of managing inventory accuracy, and achieving safety, quality, and delivery KPI targets. Supervisors also train and mentor the team and support continuous improvement initiatives. The supervisors will work closely with Logistics, Material Planning and Material Flow Engineering to ensure continuous parts supply and contribute to the overall success of the Megafactory. Both day shift and night shift AWS positions are available.
What You’ll Do
Supervise all aspect of material handling including Receiving, parts put-away, pick and load, and Shipping
Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing material handling standards and procedures
Ensure the material handling team operates efficiently and accurately when moving material
Ensure mobile equipment availability by maintaining daily inspections and reporting repair requests timely
Maintain clean and organized shipping and receiving docks, and parts storage locations
Develop and maintain standard work; train and coach material handlers to follow processes
Lead, develop and mentor the material handling team and ensure cross-functional versatility
Manage the team to achieve corporate and department key performance indicators, including, safety, 5S, labor hours, waste reduction, goods receipts, space utilization, down-time, and delivery accuracy
Maintain accurate systems inventory and ensure inventory transactions are on time and accurate
Write pass-downs, generate reports and present daily status to management as needed
Support Material Flow Engineering to define and develop lean material flow methods
Coach and motivate the team and assist in the development of future leaders
Manage timecards, attendance, PTO, corrective action, and interviewing / hiring activities
What You’ll Bring
Must have at least 2 years’ experience as a Lead in Material Handling, or be a current Supervisor
Must be able to work at the Lathrop, CA campus full-time
High School Diploma; College or University degree is preferred
Relevant experience in manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing operations and/or material handling
Strong computer skills: ability to use, and train on warehouse management system software
Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to create and present reports
Ability to plan and organize people, operational needs, and projects where required
Understands lean manufacturing concepts; ability to lead 5S and continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and lead the material handling team through adjusted conditions
Strong knowledge of warehousing or cross-docking and bar-code scanning for inventory transactions
Excellent customer service skills, a positive mindset, and a sense-of-urgency attitude
