What to Expect
The Vehicle Operations Planning team is looking for exceptional engineers and economists. The Production Planner monitors the flow of our products through the multiple production shops in the factory, manages the build mix and sequence and ensures daily operational performance by identifying issues and execute tactical plans to protect our production output. What You’ll Do
Monitoring the flow of the product through the multiple production shops in the factory to ensure that production output is being optimized.
Forecast and prevent production issues. Resolve issues impacting shop productivity in collaboration with all required groups, i.e., shop leadership, production control operations (material flow), master scheduler, and New Product Introduction engineers, to develop an action plan and lead implementation to facilitate quick recovery and to minimize impact on overall performance
Adjusting the plan for production shops based on downstream conditions.
Pulling the appropriate resources together to develop a plan (e.g. change the near-term mix, deviate to a different part, procure from service) and execute tactical plans to protect production output.
Identify and articulate the risks that exist to factory due to the current status of the system and recommended actions.
Identify structural issues / opportunities for improvement to the systems, processes or structure based on the operational performance monitored and communicated the back to the Shop Manager and Production Planner to take action.
Participate in the daily operational review for Production Control to understand and maintain the health of material flow through the factory.
Assist with inventory control activities.
What You’ll Bring
BS/MS degree in Industrial Engineering, Economics, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Prior manufacturing experience in a similar position
Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through
Extensive budget management experience, forecasting and financial planning
Skilled in managing projects and cross-functional teams with a broad range of engineering and technical disciplines
Broad experience with manufacturing and planning systems and methodologies
Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
Availability for off-hours calls
